OmegaLens privacy policy

OmegaLens is a free browser extension by Omega Do. IT Solutions e.U. (Austria) for recording the screen and taking screenshots. It is built so that nothing you capture ever leaves your computer.

Last updated: November 2, 2026

What OmegaLens handles

  • Recordings: the picture and sound of the tab, window or screen you choose, your microphone if you turn it on, and your camera if you turn on the camera bubble.
  • Screenshots: pictures of the web page you choose, and the marks you add to them.
  • Your choices: what to record, sound, microphone, camera bubble and countdown.

Where it stays

  • Recordings and screenshots are made inside your browser and saved as files in your Downloads/OmegaLens folder.
  • While a recording runs, it is kept in small pieces in the extension's private storage on your computer, so a crash does not lose it; the pieces are deleted once the file is saved.
  • A screenshot waits in the extension's private storage on your computer while you save or copy it; screenshots older than one day are deleted the next time you take one.
  • Your choices are kept in the browser's extension storage on your computer.

What OmegaLens does not do

  • It does not send recordings, screenshots, page content or anything else to us or to anyone.
  • It has no account, no cloud, no analytics, no tracking and no ads.
  • It does not read pages you have not chosen to capture, and it does not keep your browsing history.
  • It does not sell or share any data, and does not use it for any purpose other than recording and screenshots.

Permissions

The browser asks you before OmegaLens can use your microphone or camera, and asks you to pick a screen or window before recording one. OmegaLens works on the tab you are on only after you click its button or press its shortcut.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The use of information received from Chrome APIs by OmegaLens adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Deleting your data

Everything OmegaLens makes is on your computer: delete the files in Downloads/OmegaLens. Removing the extension deletes its private storage.
